Spruce Tips Pesto. Kuusevõrse pesto

kuusepesto1 (5)Classical recipe, pesto, with Estonian twist. For base I used tart and fresh spruce tips, combined with hazelnuts and local hard cheese.
Wonderful combination and spread for a rye bread or as salad.

Light green, healthy and direct from nature 🙂

A fresh, light, spring Spruce Tips pesto from Nature

  • Spruce Tips
  • garlic
  • chopped fresh basil, marjoram and parsley
  • grated hard cheese
  • hazelnuts
  • little bit oil
  • salt


  1. Put in to the blender spruce tips, salt, greens, nuts and cheese and little bit good oil
  2. make fine. Season with smashed garlic, and some pepper, if needed
  3. Mix together.

  1. I lived in a spruce forest in my younger life and would nip off the spruce tip and eat then when hiking. Wow, I never thought of making a pesto. Must take a hike on the forrest and harvest some tips so I can try this recipe.
