With this food  I will make a great tribute to our good neighbors Latvians.  But this is a very good dish and I am from South-Estonia, what is almost Latvia:), so let it be in Estonian blog.

Kurzeme Stroganoff

A delicious Latvian pork stroganoff

Ingredients

  • ca 600 g pork sirloin, cut in to stripes
  • 1 big fermented or marinated cucumber ,  
  • 1 big onion,
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 200 g sour-cream
  • 1 tablespoon Adzika or capsicum sauce
  • oil, salt

Directions

  1. Cut the meat to thick stripes. Heat oil, and fry until the pieces are lightly browned.
  2. add chopped onion, and fry slightly. Add ca 0,5 glass of hot water, cover with lid and let simmer ca 10 minute
  3. Add flour, stir carefully and add little by little ca 0,5 glass of hot water. Mix well
  4. Add sour cream, mix well. Add cucumber stripes.
  5. Season.

      1. I was surprised you know Kurzemes stroganoff! Is it from Soviet Union time & bistro?! In our family, we cut the cucumber in smaller stripes but I don’t know if it’s the RIGHT recipe 😉

  3. those fermented cucumbers are known only in Eastern Europe😋, it’s a pity because they are delicious, aren’t they? 2 days ago I made the cucumber soup (made with those cucumbers), it’s one of my favourites 🙂 And they are essential in Stroganoff
